Photographs from the exhibition and catalogue of the Sixth Native American Fine Arts Invitational, including portraits of the artists and their works. Native artists from throughout the United States and Canada submitted samples of their work. To assure that prior reputation or personal acquaintance did not prejudice the selection process, these work were presented anonymously to individual jurors who chose the artists to be represented. After the jurors made their selections, the Museum's Curator of Fine Art, Margaret Archuleta visited each artist to assist in choosing the works that will be shown. The 6th Native American Fine Arts Invitational was strongly committed to education about and the awareness of Native American fine art. Education was the primary element in every aspect of the Invitational from the Call For Entries, through the judging process, to the studio visits, the exhibition, the catalogue, and all of the related programming--Abstracted from the catalogue to the exhibition.
